Biography —
Charles Hokayem is a Principal Economist in the Center for Economic Studies at the U.S. Census Bureau where he leads projects on the use of federal tax programs such as the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. Prior to this position, he held positions as Chief of the Income Statistics Branch at the Census Bureau and Administrator of the Kentucky Research Data Center. His research focuses on the low-income population and the role of survey nonresponse on measuring income, poverty, and inequality. Hokayem holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
